Maya Sherwood (she/her) is a photographer based in Upstate New York. She graduated with a BFA in Photographic & Imaging Arts at the Rochester Institute of Technology, with a concentration in advertising photography and dual minors in Advertising & Public Relations and Art History. Her practice centers on studio-based work and commercial visual storytelling, where she explores the relationship between brand strategy and creative direction. Her broader creative interests are shaped by a strong appreciation for film and cinematic storytelling, along with past work influenced by her family, heritage, and lived experiences. She is currently developing a food-focused body of work that recontextualizes everyday foods through constructed and manipulated compositions, challenging the idea of passive consumption.
